Gauge
16 dc stitches x 8 rows is 4″

Notes
- ALWAYS start in the same stitch as chain.
- ALWAYS join in first stitch of the row.
- In the amount of stitches you should have at the end of the row, (ex. 11 sts). That count does include the chain.
Special Stitch
Secure Stitch~secure stitch is when you take the hook in project, yarn over, take the hook back through the stitch, take the hook in the next stitch, yarn over, take the hook back through the stitch, yarn over, take hook through all remaining loops on the hook. Or single crochet decrease, attaching ribbing to hat.

Hat
Start with gray yarn.
ch 3
Row 1: 10 dc in 3rd ch from hook, join (11 sts)
Row 2: ch 2, 2 dc in each st, join (21 sts)
Cut yarn and change to white yarn.
Row 3: ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st* repeat * to * around, join (31 sts)
Row 4: ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next 2 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts* repeat * to * around, join (41 sts)
Cut yarn and change to gray yarn.
Row 5: ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next 3 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts* repeat * to * around, join (51 sts)
Row 6: ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in next 8 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 8 sts* repeat * to * 4 more times around, 2 dc in next st, dc in remaining sts, join (57 sts)
Cut yarn and change to white yarn.
Row 7-8: ch 2, dc in each st around, join (57 sts)
Cut yarn and change to gray yarn.
Row 9-10: ch 2, dc in each st around, join (57 sts)
Cut yarn and change to white yarn.
Row 11-12: ch 2, dc in each st around, join (57 sts)
Cut yarn and change to gray yarn.
Row 13: ch 1, sc in each st around, join (Do NOT cut.) (57 sts)
Stretch Ribbing
ch 5 (continuing from the hat, not separate),
sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in remaining ch, secure stitch, turn (this will feel a little weird if you aren't used to it),
Row 2: blsc in each st, turn
Row 3: ch 1, blsc in each st, secure stitch, turn
Row 4: blsc in each st, turn
Repeat rows 3-4 all the way around the hat
- slst the beginning and end of ribbing together
- cut yarn, weave ends, fasten off
Leaf (make 2)
With green yarn.
Ch 8
sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next st, dc in next 3 sts, hdc in next st, 3 sc turning to opposite side, hdc in next st, dc in next 3 sts, hdc in next st, sc in next st, cut yarn, fasten off, weave ends
