Mary Maxim Natural Alpaca Tweed yarn, Raw Cotton
size L, 8.0mm crochet hook
ch1 at the beginning of a round DOES NOT count as a st.
This design uses a joined ring at the crown, So often the magic rings come open, leaving all your efforts in the trash. If you prefer a closed hole at the top, work your initial stitches over the tail, and pull it to tighten. Bury the full length of tail in the finished hat. The addition of the joined ring will help to provide a closure that stays for years.
I join all rounds in blo, so when the final stitch of the round is placed over it, it naturally covers without as much bulk. by doing it in the back, when you put the last stitch in, over the ch 1, it is automatically behind, so it covers, rather than looking bulky, and possibly giving you another st in the next round.
As you work this, you will find that your seam (joins) move, so you will not have a defined line in your finished hat. This is a design that does not need a flower to hide the join line!
